India well poised to emerge as one of the global leaders in green buildings In a major impetus to the green building movement in India, the 7th edition of Green Building Congress 2009, organised by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) from 9-12 September 2009 at Hyderabad evoked overwhelming response and was well received from all the stakeholders of the construction sector. The theme for the event was 'Affordable Green Buildings', aimed at making green buildings a reality for all the sections of the society and demonstrate that going green is the need of the hour International Conference on Green Buildings & Conference on Green Homes
The international conference on green buildings was held on 10 & 11 September 2009 and the conference on green homes was held on 12 September 2009.
Shri K Rosaiah, Chief Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh delivering the Chief Guest Address at the inaugural session on 10 September 2009 Dr Prem C Jain expressed the confidence & optimism that India will soon emerge as one of the world leaders in green buildings and technologies. Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC delivering the theme address Mr Jamshyd N Godrej noted that green building movement is an extension of the mission on sustainable growth, and called on the captains of the industry to join the Mission for ensuring sustainable growth of the country. Mr Jamshyd N Godrej, Chairman, CII - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre explaining about the Mission on Sustainable Growth initiative Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry highlighted the role played by CII in the climate change activities.
